Alejandra Venegas: solo exhibition at Proyectos Monclova, Mexico City

After having been hidden throughout the night, light falls peacfully on the plants and trees that grow on Tzompolhill, in the rugged part of Xochimilco in Mexico City. The first streaks of blue in the sky are accompanied by sounds, the dawn chorus that occurs when birds hail the morning. Day breaks, revealing a scene replete with flora and fauna. Not far from the slopes of this hill, the Mexican artist Alejandra Venegas works in her home studio. This exhibition, titled Tzompol Daybreak, showcases some of the artist’s most recent sculptural work relating to daybreak,to a new beginning, revealing a correspondence across her work between natural elements, landscape, and a cyclical, rhythmic conception of time, in harmony with a material and visual exploration of colour.

The exhibition at Proyectos Monclova in Mexico City  runs from 4 September to 18 October 2025.
