Puck Verkade: solo exhibition at De Nederlandsche Bank, Amsterdam

In 'Uprooted', artist Puck Verkade takes you into a dreamlike, underground world. a world of her own creation with handmade decors made of recycled cardboard and papier-mâché. The artwork is a life-size triptych full of moving images, drawings, sculptures, sound and performances.  Verkade drew inspiration for this artwork from her own experience of motherhood and the challenges of bringing a child into the world in times of ecological crisis.

In 'Uprooted', Verkade invites you to experience the meaning of caring, motherhood and ecological crisis, and to discover the layers of our connection to the Earth. Be inspired by Verkade's playful and cartoon-like style, which effortlessly combines humour with critical reflection.

'Uprooted' is the first solo exhibition by an artist in De Nieuwe Schatkamer. Verkade’s approach fits seamlessly with the core values of De Nederlandsche Bank’s art vision: daring, experimental and innovative.

The exhibition runs from 8 September 2025 until 13 February 2026.
